Ranch Party Weekend
I’ve added a bunch of new videos, but not all of them are available for viewing at the moment. I’ve installed a new Flash video plugin - one that allows for full-screen playback - so I have to go back and re-enter the tags for the videos. In addition to the full-screen option, there’s also a preview image so that you’ll have a clue as to the video quality.
Among the videos I’ve added are several clips from the old Ranch Party TV show. The quality is pretty dubious, but they’re pretty obscure clips. For instance, there’s just not that much footage of vintage Wanda Jackson in existence, which is a shame. Here’s Wanda doing “Cool Love”:

That was Joe Maphis playing guitar on “Cool Love” - Joe is all over these Ranch Party clips, playing banjo, fiddle and his double-neck Mosrite. Here’s Joe Maphis with 15 year-old Larry Collins playing “Under the Double Eagle”

If you visit the Video pages and aren’t able to watch the videos, be patient; they should all be back online in the next 24 hours.

I’m running out of naming options for these increasingly sick people. I started out a month ago with Church Burners. Then I had to add Ebola Boys. Church Burning Ebola Boys. Now what - Church Burning Baby Butchering Ebola Boys? That’s too long. Too unwieldy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Source:

In Chicago during the late 1990’s, cartoonist Heather MacAdams with her husband Chris Ligon ran a second hand store and record shop called The Old Record Round Up. About once a month, they would have a show in their store. There would be a musical act and unusual rare films. The music act were Chicago area alt country artists like Neko Case with Sally Timms, Kelly Hogan, Robbie Fulks, Jon Langford and others. Yes, it was great!
Among the films Heather would show were old Ranch Party. There were a lot of great performances on the show. The Collins Kids were a lot of fun. My my favorites were Carl Perkins doing “Blue Suede Shoes” and Johnny Cash and The Tennessee Two.
You forgot to say that Tex Ritter was the host of the show.

I love Robbie Fulks, especially his”Country Love Songs” album which was produced by Steve Albini. I’ve got a Farm Aid bootleg with Robbie doing “Billie Jean” and AC/DC’s “Girls Got Rhythm”. I wish he’d come down to my neck of the woods and do a show. Junior Brown used to come down here at least once a year, but it’s been awhile.
I added Johnny Cash’s “Train of Love” to the video section - I’ll be adding some Carl Perkins and Collins Kids, too. I have an awesome clip of Joe Maphis, Merle Travis and Larry Collins triple-teaming Larry’s double-neck, too. I also have the Collins Kids on Town Hall Party, which predates Ranch Party.
I guess the reason I didn’t mention Tex Ritter is because he has all the charisma of a sponge. He gets the song titles wrong, too. Once I get some video editing software installed, I’m going to make a video of Tex’s obscure Cold War recitation, “The Red Deck of Cards”. I was bummed that it wasn’t included in the Atomic Platters box.

Yo, in so far as Mr. Denyse, although. A big shout out to the P to the O to the P to the E, my boy B-16.
I know this Ranch shizznit isn’t all up in your grill like those hot new acts Color Me Badd and the Starland Vocal Band, but Wanda Jackson, ipso facto and albeit, was as the young people have been, altogether, known to say was pretty fab and gear back in the day.
I like ID Ho because, as those of you who have, read my book, know, the state of ID Ho is very close to my, native Canada.
Peace out, 23 skiddoo.

I have a virgin UD account that’s been fermenting several months. I’ll probably never use it, so if anyone wants it, holler. It’s an awesome account name, too.
