The Church Burning Ebola Broadcasting System
Welcome to the debut episode of The Church Burning Ebola Broadcasting System. The theme of this episode is Sex & Violence (and it’s not even blog sweeps week, as far as I can tell). Did you think overt sexual themes and graphic violence didn’t get sung about until heavy metal and gangsta rap came along? Get outta town, ‘cuz these hillbillies are freaky - and if you think otherwise, they’re liable to kill you in your sleep! Simply press play, or you can download the mp3 to your hard drive by right-clicking the graphic and doing whatever it is your browser needs to do to save a file.

Enjoy the music of:
Hartman’s Heartbreakers
The Blue Sky Boys
The Light Crust Doughboys
Jimmie Rodgers
The Delmore Brothers
Spade Cooley & His Western Swing Band
Johnny Horton
Jimmie Driftwood
Tennessee Ernie Ford & Ella Mae Morse
and more!
This is my first attempt at podcasting, so bear with me. The levels on my mic are fucked, so I had to put the microphone right up to my mouth, and as a result, my voice sounds like an obscene phone caller. There’s also a minor burp in the file at 12:44. I’ll try harder next time… promise.

I’m running out of naming options for these increasingly sick people. I started out a month ago with Church Burners. Then I had to add Ebola Boys. Church Burning Ebola Boys. Now what - Church Burning Baby Butchering Ebola Boys? That’s too long. Too unwieldy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Source:

Can you post the playlist?
Also, does “and more!” include the Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys classic “Big Balls in Cowtown”?

Carlsonjok, here’s the (almost) complete track listing:
The “and more” refers to the swinging theme music, and the last song, which is better left unmentioned… those who have already listened will probably vouch for me on that.
The next time I do a sex & violence show, I’ll have to dig up Bob Wills’ “Pray For the Lights to Go Out”. It’s sort of like that Ray Stevens song “The Mississippi Squirrel Revival”, except it’s good. Oh, and instead of a squirrel, it’s penises.

I just listened to “Big Balls in Cowtown” and it isn’t all that racy. I was thinking of it the other day when I heard AC/DC’s “Big Balls” on the radio.
I knew there was a pretty racy Western Swing song and I thought that was it. After listening to it, and looking at your list, I realized that the one I was trying to recall was “Pussy, Pussy, Pussy.” Ironically, I got that song on a CD I bought at a Smithsonian Institute gift shop. Of course, it was during the Clinton years.

Funny you should mention AC/DC - tomorrow is the 28th anniversary of Bon Scott’s death, and I’ve already got a little tribute up and ready to go.
Have you ever heard the Prairie Ramblers? They were Patsy Montana’s backup band, and they recorded a bunch of risqué numbers under various names. As The Sweet Violet Boys, the recorded the hilarious “I Love My Fruit” (which can be found here). I’ve got a bunch of their stuff on vinyl, but haven’t been able to find an anthology of their work on CD. It’s a shame, too; they were all excellent musicians.
